Asbestos Services

The presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a structure can impact the value and planned use of a property. Environmental, Inc. uses our expertise and experience to quickly and effectively help our clients assess a property to determine if ACMs are present, their potential impact on the proposed use of the property, and the proper method to manage or remove these materials.

Asbestos Survey – An Asbestos Survey includes a visual observation of a structure to determine potential ACMs, collection of the appropriate number of samples of each potential ACM, laboratory analysis of the samples for asbestos content, and assessment of the laboratory analyses. All Asbestos Surveys conducted by Environmental, Inc. are performed by certified Asbestos Inspectors.

Asbestos Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plan – In many cases ACMs may be managed in-place using proper management techniques and using an Asbestos O&M Plan. Our certified Asbestos Inspectors use information from the Asbestos Survey, a physical assessment of the ACMs identified during the Asbestos Survey, an analysis of the physical and use characteristics of the structure to develop a plan for managing ACMs in-place.

Asbestos Abatement Design – In many cases an Asbestos Abatement Design is required when it is necessary to remove damaged friable ACMs from a structure. The Asbestos Abatement Design details the method(s) to be used in removing ACMs from a structure in order to minimize exposure of airborne asbestos fibers to abatement workers and the public. It also includes air sampling requirements for before and after abatement, and/or during abatement activities for airborne asbestos fiber content.

Asbestos Air Monitoring – Environmental, Inc. offers air monitoring services for asbestos abatement projects or projects that have a potential to disturb ACMs.

Triennial Inspections of Schools – Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) regulations require inspection of ACMs triennially for all public and private schools, kindergarten through grade twelve. These inspections are intended to document the condition of ACMs remaining in the school and determine if any ACMs have deteriorated to the point of requiring repair or removal. In addition, each school is required to have an up-to-date Asbestos O&M Plan which describes the location and description of the ACMs in the school, and what to do if one of these materials becomes damaged. Environmental, Inc. personnel include certified Asbestos Inspectors & Management Planners to provide these services.
